EVENT PRODUCER

Creek Show seeks to support and celebrate outstanding design, while sparking conservation about the transformation of a restored Waller Creek in Austin.

Each year, Creek Show features a series of light based art installations along five-city blocks that inspire, delight, and highlight Austin-based artists and designers.

Creek Show installations are curated via a public call for ideas each year. The opportunity is open to anyone based in Austin, Texas. Collaborative and interdisciplinary proposal are encouraged. Installations are selected by a rotating committee of local art and environmental leaders and enthusiasts.

ROLE & IMPACT

  • Designed & Executed Exhibition Production (2018-2024): Produced an annual 10-night, light-based art exhibition, overseeing every stage from a city-wide Call for Artists, through a juried selection process, to supervising installation design and fabrication. Ensured full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations throughout.

  • Expanded Programming and Venues: Spearheaded the growth of the exhibition, extending it across five city blocks and adding two new event venues, including the Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Park. Broadened the event’s offerings to include nightly live music, food and beverage services, and arts and environmental education workshops.

  • Earned Revenue Growth and Fundraising: Orchestrated a dramatic increase in revenue, growing on-site income from $15,000 in 2019 to over $200,000 in 2023. Played a key role in securing over $3+ million in corporate and philanthropic support for the Waterloo Greenway Conservancy’s annual programming and operations.

  • Audience Growth and Engagement: Drove a significant increase in event attendance, growing from 20,000 (2017) to 50,000+ (2018). Maintained average attendance of 60,000 in subsequent years. Enhanced public engagement through innovative programming and strategic marketing initiatives.

  • Award Recognition: Recognized as a finalist for the SXSW Place by Design Award in 2019, recognizing innovative work at the intersection of art, technology, and design that transforms public spaces.
